The NHL has just announced that they are cancelling all regular season games through December 31 as the lockout continues at a stand still. This is actually the fourth NHL lockout in the past 20 years. The last time this happened (in 2004-05), the entire season was cancelled! And we’re already hearing reports of many businesses in Canada and other hockey-loving cities losing a ton of revenue due to the lockout. Let’s work this out, folks!

In the meantime, though, this doesn’t mean that the players are sitting around and twiddling their thumbs. Some who have chosen to remain local are doing all they can to remain active on the ice and find some worthwhile causes to dedicate their time to. This is what led to a recent charity pick-up game here in L.A. that saw members of the Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and other Western Conference teams get together to shoot some pucks to benefit the Twin Peaks Cancer Foundation. Coached by actors Michael Rosenbaum (“Smallville”) and Kevin Connolly (“Entourage”), star players like Justin Williams, Mike Comrie, Rob Scuderi, Jarrett Stoll, and many more laced up the skates to give the spectators a good show, get their game on, and help out a great charity at the same time! That’s the spirit!

So, while we wait and hope that the lockout comes to a peaceful (and quick) conclusion, check out our exclusive coverage of the Twin Peaks game and hear how else these players are keeping busy here: http://www.younghollywood.com/videos/sports/more-sports/la-kings-skate-for-a-cause.html
